Estimation of Genetic Variability and Correlation Analysis for Quantitative Traits in Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.)

The present investigation were to assess the Genetic variability, heritability, genetic advance, correlation coefficient analysis and path for chickpea(Cicer arietinum.L) genotypes 13 quantitative traits during Rabi 2021-2022 at field experiment center, Department of Genetics Plant Breeding, Naini Agriculture Institute, Sam Higginbottom University Technology Sciences, Uttar Pradesh . To perform study, 31 chickpea measured using Randomized Block Design replicated thrice. mean sum Squares due showed significant differences all characters under study 1% level significance. estimates phenotypic variation found higher than their corresponding genotypic which indicates presence environment effect on expression studied. High heritability coupled with high advance as percent was observed like Number pods per plant, Seed yield Harvest index Biological plant Indicates that most likely might be additive gene selection may effective segregating generations improvement traits. exhibited positive height, index, , secondary branches possess association grain both level. Further, also proved importance index. Hence, they could used indices further in Chickpea varieties.
